Baileys 1st holiday to Brean

Another weekend away with Kim and Danny.  This time to Channel View in Brean, Somerset.  This campsite is right on the beach and as we weren’t planning to cycle this weekend we decided to take Bailey the Labrador with us.

We arrived just as the rain stopped so, as Bailey loves the beach, we headed straight there.  The tide was a long way out and the sand was a bit muddy.  But that didn’t stop Bailey rolling around in it.

When we got back to the van I had to sit outside drying Bailey before he was allowed back in.

I cycled down to the chip shop, leaving Donald and Bailey in the van.  Only when I got there I realised I had forgotten my face mask, there was a shop further along the lane so off I set.  I got back to the chip shop to find they weren’t taking cards, back to the shop I went to get some cash.

Kim and Danny arrived later that evening so we walked up to the pub to meet them for a drink.  We were in different campsites this weekend as it was a bit of a last minute booking for us and the one they were in was full.

As the pub shut we headed off to our vans for the night arranging to meet on the beach the following morning.

The beach at Brean allows you to drive your van on it.  We decided not to take Wike on as at 3.5 ton we thought she would sink.  Boycie is not so heavy so Danny drove her on.  As the tide was so far out we headed off to the market for a couple of hours.

After this we came back to the beach.  The sun had come out so Danny put the music on and we spent an enjoyable afternoon having fun.

That night we tried out our new Cadac by cooking steaks, then headed back to the beach to watch the sun set.  The tide had come so far in you couldn’t see the beach anymore.

Next morning we set of to explore Brean Down, which is a bit of land that sticks out into the sea.  To get to it we had to walk up some very steep steps, but once there the views were fantastic.  It was quite windy but well worth the it.

Bailey loved his holiday and settled really well in the van.  We will definitely take him again.
