We have 2 weeks holiday and have decided to head to Scotland to see family. As it’s a long drive I booked us a couple of stopover on the way up.
The first one was a pub stopover called the Arkwright Arms in Chesterfield. We arrived early evening and had supper sitting outside in the sun
From here we moved on to Stump Cross Caverns in Yorkshire. I have never been in a cave before as I don’t like small spaces, but, it was really interesting that I soon forgot my claustrophobia.
After visiting the caves we took the bikes for a cycle round a reservoir, but it was very hilly with 15° inclines.
When we arrived we went into the café Donald had the biggest hot chocolate I have ever seen and I had a cream tea.
The following morning I had booked us in for breakfast, which was huge, before we headed off on the last leg of the drive to Edinburgh.
The parking for the night was fantastic, they have a dedicated car park over looking the Yorkshire Moors there is even a little maze and a sand pit!
From here we headed up through Jedburgh and the rain came down. We decided not to stop for lunch as we were still full and wanted to get to Edinburgh to find somewhere to watch England play in the cup final.
